Family recipients are for ongoing updates. They can receive weekly summaries by email and alert updates by email, SMS, or both.
Trusted contacts are different. They are managed in a line's Contacts section and are used for urgent safety SMS outreach only.
Go to the Privacy Center and turn on Family Sharing. You must enable this before inviting anyone.
You can add up to 5 recipients.
